Michelle for President!

By Andrej Mrevlje |

Michelle Obama, the first lady of the United States, made two speeches during this campaign. The first one was during the the Democratic Convention in July, and it energized what started as a slow political event. The crowds roared, and Democrats became convinced that Hillary would be ok, despite the fact that many people’s hearts were still with Bernie Sanders.

This time, Michelle Obama spoke for herself as a woman. I never heard such a passionate and heartbreaking speech from a professional politician in my life. It almost made me feel bad to share Donald Trump’s gender. There’s a reason people are calling it the speech that crystallized the 2016 presidential campaign.

I remember being lucky enough to briefly meet Barack Obama in 2004, during the Democratic National Convention in Boston. I told him that I was pretty sure he would become the next president of the U.S. This time, after hearing Michelle Obama speak, I want the same: Michelle for president!
